Applications are being accepted at the OCC for summer employment with the Department of Leisure Services. The following positions are available: lifeguards, pool concession workers, camp leaders, park supervisors, park and boulevard maintenance and Smith Gardens. You must be at least 16 years of age to work at the pool and for all other positions you must be at least 18 years of age.
Calls will be made the week of April 7 to schedule interviews, with interviewing beginning the week of April 14. If you are interested in working for the Department of Leisure Services this summer you need to have your application turned in no later than March 31 to be included in the first round of interviews. The city of Oakwood will commence flushing fire hydrants throughout the city starting on April 7, 2008 through April 25, 2008. The following is the city’s schedule for flushing hydrants. These dates are a guideline. In the event of unforeseen problems, there may be a delay.

While the hydrant flushing may cause some discoloration, the water is safe and will clear shortly after your area is flushed. Please check your water for clarity prior to doing any laundry. Should your laundry become discolored, do not dry clothes until you have had an opportunity to re-wash them in a special detergent available from the water billing department at 30 Park Avenue between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
