Oakwood Adventure Guides info meeting Sept. 6

The Oakwood Nation of the YMCA Adventure Guides and Adventure Princesses program (formerly the Indian Guides and Princesses) is currently preparing for another wonderful year of activities and trips. The dates are already confirmed for the Holiday at Home Parade (Sept. 4), the Fall Campout (Sept. 15 to 17), and the Family Picnic at Shafor Park (Oct. 15).

Other Nation outings, including bowling, winter swimming, a museum visit, and the annual Christmas tree decorating at the Oakwood gazebo on Far Hills Avenue, are in the works. In addition, each tribe will be planning their own events for the year. Attendance at nation and tribal events is optional, as we all have busy schedules, but is encouraged as time with family should be a top priority for all of us!

The Oakwood Adventure Guides and Adventure Princesses have been in existence for over 35 years and currently have over 150 families as members. The organization promotes dads and children spending quality time together by participating in monthly tribal outings and various Nation events throughout the school year. Several of the traditions followed today are carried on by the dads who were members of the Oakwood Nation of the Indian Guides when they were kids in the 1960’s, 70’s & 80’s.

If you would like to learn more about the Oakwood Nation of the Adventure Guides and Adventure Princesses, please plan to attend our informational meeting at 7 p.m. on Sept. 6 at St. Paul’s Church on West Dixon Avenue in Oakwood; check out our website at http://www.oakwoodnation.com; or call the Chief Navigator, Rick Ordeman, at 513-460-8633 (cell). The Adventure Guides and Adventure Princesses look forward to having you join our Nation!
