Higgins behind the wheel of his race car.
John Higgins created an insurmountable points lead in the annual Jo Bonnier Cup with a third place finish at Daytona. This event is an 8-race series for the Vintage World Championship of Makes Cars. In addition to the Daytona International Speedway, these cars run at some of America’s greatest sports car racing venues - including Daytona, Watkins Glen, Elkart Lake, Sebring, and Mid-Ohio. Higgins now has a 40-point lead that cannot be overtaken as only one race remains.
Higgins, 58 - continues his legacy of auto racing accomplishments that has spanned more than 30 years. Driving for Dayton based Grant Motorsports, Higgins won the Rolex Vintage Endurance Championship in 2001, piloting the same Porsche 910 that had won the 24 Hours of Le Mans back in 1969. Driving for Porsche during the 1980s, John was able to share the victory podium numerous times, including a win in the 12 Hours of Sebring, one of professional sports car racings crown jewels.
Higgins has competed in over 25 international endurance races and in 2005 was nominated by former Indy 500 champion Bobby Rahal for membership in the prestigious Road Racers Driving Club.
