American Red Cross celebrates 90 years

I invite the entire community to help the Dayton Area Chapter of the American Red Cross celebrate 90 years of service during March, Red Cross Month.

We are honored that American Red Cross Interim President and CEO Jack McGuire will make his first Dayton appearance at our Annual Meeting on March 27, 11:30 am in Dayton, and will serve as keynote speaker for this milestone celebration.

Our Chapter would not be entering its tenth decade if not for the unqualified support of volunteers, donors, and long standing partners such as local governments and the United Way. The recent spate of major fires certainly showed the Red Cross at its best- volunteers and staff working together to help our neighbors in their most desperate time of need. Fact is, we respond to a local emergency, on the average, every other day.

But we are also proactive. The 25,000 area residents we teach each year in first aid, aquatics, CPR, and automatic external defibrillator training have a ripple effect that makes our community safer. We also remain committed to keeping entire families together through our emergency housing programs, now helping 400 families each year. Our military community remains connected to loved ones through Red Cross communications, which transits more than one thousand messages through Dayton without a single mishap!

To find out how you can get involved, or more about the March 27 Annual Meeting, visit www.dac.redcross.org. Congratulations! Our celebration is only possible because of your cooperation!

Sincerely,
Tom Fodor, MSB, CFRE
Chief Executive Officer
