An international wedding was held by Oakwoodites, Evie and George Kling – for their daughter Jessica Bryant Kling and their prospective son-in-law Adem Vllasi. And though it was several weeks ago it is a ‘must mention’.
The Dayton Art Institute was the perfect setting for this fabulously planned and executed wedding. “Two to four inches of snow were predicted so we had valet parking and a covered walkway for guests,” began Evie. “Adem’s parents, Azem & Nadira Vllasi, were there from Kosovo (Azem Vllasi is a former President of Kosovo)…there were relatives and guests from Albania and Turkey…the Vllasi’s daughter Sellma Vllasi-White and two cousins from Chicago came…my cousin Sylvia Bergen came from Vermont…my room mate when I was an AFS ex.student in Brazil was there…Jessica wore her Grandmother’s necklace with her dress of Thai silk…the bridesmaids were in slate-blue…Jessica’s sister, Whitney, was Maid of Honor…and Bridesmaids were Carrie Cooper and Megan Decker and Elizabeth Evans who were law school classmates of Jessica’s…Elis Vllasi was Best Man.”
“The cake was the color of the Bridesmaids dresses and was decorated with the ‘couples’’ new monogram…and the monogram was projected on the dance floor…Jessica and Adem ‘honeymooned’ in Dos Cabos, Mexico…and then it’s back to their positions with law firms in Columbus…”

The place to meet is George Sier’s Hair Studio at the crack of dawn. Ethel Kiefaber James was getting a ‘do’. And so was Joey Thiele. Joey reported that Larissa had been in town staying with Chris Saunders. Now Larissa is a former Professor at Leningrad University in the former USSR, and has had a long association with St. Paul’s Church in Oakwood. Wendy Scholl had a party for her. Some Oakwoodites have been with her in St.Petersberg several times and Larissa’s visits to Oakwood are a special treat. Larissa’s son recently graduated from Oxford…Round Town is sorry to have missed her in February.

Carolyn Young called about the YWCA’S ‘Women of Influence” luncheon at the Convention Center on March 15th. Carolyn was an honoree years ago at the first luncheon and her interest in and work for the YWCA continues.
One of her best friends from Roosevelt High School days and with whom she’s still so very close – is Aileen Winters – Jonathon’s wife. “I just talked with Aileen…she’s not doing very well…and when of asked if I could come out to California to see her she said she wasn’t up to a visit…I’m so worried about her.”

Dorothy Lane Market, Oakwood’s natch, had two very busy shoppers in the produce department. Dotty Culp and Helen Hagaman. And there’s not a better place to chat, and to discuss ‘organic’ vs. ‘regular’, to talk to Willie, and report on who’s in Florida and when they’ll be home….
