Oakwood home gets an award-winning kitchen

To Chris Appleton  (pseudonym),

I read the “Rant” you wrote on March 13th, concerning the 911 center. Obviously you have not done any kind of research on the subject and you have not been paying attention to any of the articles or writings from those who oppose it and do so with facts. Your “Rant” is just that, a rant.

Apparently you either work for the Oakwood Register or you know someone who does because I find it absolutely unbelievable they would print a piece of garbage such as the rant you wrote. You said in your rant,  “Why else would you find municipalities consolidating these operations.” In short Mr. Appleton, or whoever you are, it is because it’s pure politics, period.  By your article it is apparent you have no idea of what you are talking about.  Politics is the driving force behind this, and why? All the politicians are talking “Regionalization.” The 911 center is just the first step. First, consolidate dispatch and then consolidate local governments to form a Metro Government.  (Metro Police, Fire, and then Government). By doing so, they can then take local money from cities like Oakwood, Kettering, Centerville, etc., to fix up the City of Dayton. The ultimate goal is Metro Government.  Don’t believe it?  Speaker of the House Husted even said that was his goal.

He is the one pushing local governments to do this. Individual cities became individual cities for a reason, to govern themselves. We are seeing the beginning of the end of individual cities with this first step.

You then write, “Upon closer scrutiny, one will find that there is virtually no change in the time that an emergency call would be routed to response personnel with either an ‘in house’ or outsourced 911 dispatch.” How in the world would you know that? Tell us the scrutiny you did to reach this conclusion?  You certainly don’t live in the city of Dayton because you wouldn’t be saying that.

Did you know is is not uncommon for a Dayton resident to call the Dayton Police only to be put on hold or to call 911 and to get a recording saying, “Due to the high volume of calls, we can not get to you immediately, please stay on the line and someone will be right with you” Of course you didn’t know that or you wouldn’t be writing the garbage you have. The same is true with Montgomery County. They don’t have the 911 recording - Dayton does - but it is not uncommon to be placed on hold when calling for police help.  If Oakwood, Kettering, and other communities join a regional dispatch center, guess what? We get lumped in the same pool of incoming calls with the City of Dayton, competing for someone to answer our call. Gee, that’s what I want! Let’s do it! You don’t think that will change the time that an emergency call would be routed to response personnel? Get real. That is just one example and there are many, many more.

I am not going to answer anymore more of your “rant.” It doesn’t deserve anymore of my valuable time. It is baseless, unfactual, and flat out stupidity. If you do live in Oakwood, move out because you don’t deserve to receive the fine services you are currently enjoying. Next time you have a couple of disorderly squirrels fighting over nuts in your front yard, call Dayton or the County and see if you get the same service you get now. I know, that is a stupid comparison, but I had to lower myself to your level so you might be able to understand.
