Forty-two talented Oakwood young people will be performing in Seussical the Musical at Oakwood High School’s auditorium on March 23-25, 2007. Performances are Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets to this delightful show, based on the whimsical stories of Dr. Seuss, are just $10 for adults and $6 for students. They are available by calling the high school office at 225-5325 and, if seats remain, at the door.




The show features OHS freshman Tyler Rife as the Cat in the Hat, junior Brianna McGhee as Gertrude, senior Brad Thomas as Horton, and Harman sixth grader Jon Payne as Jojo. They are joined in the cast by: seniors Alyssa Hanson, Torey Hollingsworth, Rachel Lerner, John Loftus, Claire McDowell, Mirandy Moberg, Valerie Reaper, Elizabeth Schweitzer, and Arianna Tellez; juniors Charlie Danis, Jenny Hanna, and Jonny Rudwall; sophomores Jake Basnett, Hannah Berry, Beka Bolmida, Daniel Crooke, Sarah Hanselman, Stephanie Hemmelgarn, Lindsay McWilliams, Nora Murphy, and Siobhan Tellez; and freshmen Mason Cammel, Audrey Maney, Sarah Oda, Joanie Payne, Will Reese, Gabe Robinson, and Peter Schweitzer; Oakwood Junior High students Rob Mitchell, Alexandra Morris, and Abby Scharrer; Harman Elementary students: Erin Donnelly, Rollie Fisk, Ellen Geiselman, Libby Groll, and Bryan Koenig; and Smith Elementary students Kaja Burke-Williams and Patrick McCready.
Directing Seussical, their third musical at Oakwood High School, are OHS Choral Director Jeremy Storost and his wife Katie Storost. Senior Stefanie Wagner is the student director and sophomore Michele Lynch is the assistant student director.
The live orchestra adds to the high quality of Oakwood High School musical performances. In the pit for Seussical will be Liza Ambrose, Anna Chifala, Matt Disbrow, Lauren Enns, Katie Fritz, Nick Hac, Ben Hershey, Bill Hershey, Colleen Judge, Maggie Light-Scotece, Sarah Maher, Matt McAllister, Oliver Radcliffe, Lauren Shine, Julien Shine, Julia Sizek, Elizabeth Swank, Mary Tellers, Lauren Tramantano, Annie Wang, and Jennifer Wuebker. OHS Band Director Ron Nelson is conducting.
Working back stage will be crew members Michael Neal, Nick Ross, Stephen Davis, Michael Chapman, Garrett Robinson, Cameron Stevens, Macallan Skipton, Hannah Enloe, Kaitlyn Reynolds, Jordan Kolar, Viktoria Harlan, and Kaylee Munch.
Seussical composers Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty wrote, “The score emerged as a Seussian gumbo of musical styles, Latin to pop to swing.” With the talented voices of Oakwood students, a unique score, fun story line, and colorful costumes, the show promises to provide outstanding entertainment for all ages.
OHS fans give a standing ovation for a great basketball season.

OHS’ great basketball season comes to an end. The Jacks were defeated by Purcell Marian by a score of 59-48. The team finished with first in OHS history 20-3 win-loss tally.
