The Oakwood Senior Prom was held this past weekend at the Reception Hall of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Dayton View. It was well attended and the students had a great time.

Prom attendees Show up in style!

On May 2, The Lange School Kindergarten teachers presented a “Destination Hawaiian Blending” Ceremony for the letters Q and U. The students have been studying how a variety of letter blends make words. This event was a culminating learning event that emphasized the specific letter blends of Q and U. The students made individually decorated QU word cards that were pieced together to make a beautiful “word quilt” for the QU couple. The QU participants were: Blending Coordinators – Janet Block, Phyllis Caudill, Jane Lynch, Cynthia Quiles: Mr. Q. – Rick Scalzo; Miss U – Sharon Savage; TranQUil Songstress – Dr. Mary Jo Scalzo; Master of Ceremonies – Mark Waltersheide; Mother-in-Law – Gretcehn Loper, Kim Kappler; Father of Miss U – Mark Garner: Flower Girl – Emmy; Ring Bearer – Garrett; Chef – Jeff Blumer; Piano – Debbie Drake; QU cake – Ashley’s Bakery; Chorus – Lange School Kindergartners. All in all, it was a QUality language arts program.
Oakwood High School senior Colleen Judge was awarded a $10,000 scholarship from The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation.
Colleen was one of 250 high school seniors selected nationwide based on their academic excellence, and school and community leadership. Scholarships are sponsored by the local Coca-Cola Bottler and The Coca-Cola Company. Nationwide, 50 students earned National four-year college scholarships of $20,000 and 200 students earned Regional four-year college scholarships of $10,000.
Stuart Hull, a junior at Oakwood High School, will join a select group of students representing their schools, communities, and states as People to People student leaders. Hull has been accepted into the People to People Future Leaders Summit in New York, NY and Washington, D.C. on June 18-27, 2007.
All students accepted into a People to People program must meet rigorous academic and leadership requirements. Hull was nominated and accepted for the honor on outstanding scholastic merit, civic involvement and leadership potential.
Hull plans on majoring in Political Science in college. He is the son of Greg and Theresa Hull.
