Spring sports awards

The Spring Sports Award Banquet was held on Monday, May 21 and the following student athletes were recognized for their efforts in four sports categories.

In baseball, the Most Valuable Player was Andrew Carpenter, Most Improved went to Matt Vail, Chris Hardy merited the Coaches Award and the Sportsmanship laurel went to Mitch Jones with Honorable Mention going to Matt Vail and Mitch Jones. First Team picks were Andrew Carpenter and Chris Hardy; Second Team picks were Ben Scott and Kris Soward.

Girls softball had Jennifer Wuebker scoring as MVP, Rilley Hignite was Most Improved, the Coaches Award went to Cathryn Hardy and Ali Botello and Honorable Mention going to Ellie Rodebeck, Sportsmanship was merited by Ashley Morrison. First Team pick was Jennifer Wuebker and Second Team pick was Cathryn Hardy.

Tennis picked up the 2007 SWBL Champions trophy. MVP was Addison Wille, MIP was Isaac Hong, the Coaches Award went to Ethan Greene and the Sportsmanship Award was pick up by David Wang. First team picks were Addison Wille and David Wang. Second team picks were Ethan Greene, Brittany White and Honorable Mention going to Isaac Hong.

In boys track, Nathan Thomas and Jake Mays were both rated MVP’s, Sean Huey was Most Improved, Jason Hewer merited the Coaches Award and the Sportsmanship laurel went to Peter Hix.

Girls track recognized Dani Reese as MVP, Laura German was Most Improved, Liz Whalen merited the Coaches Award and Julia Sizek won the Sportsmanship Award.

Summer Sport Camps______________________

Free Football Camp at Welcome Stadium June 2

Cricket Communications, a leading provider of unlimited wireless services, is sponsoring the annual Martin Bayless Free Football Camp in Dayton. The camp will be held at Welcome Stadium on Saturday, June 2.

“Through the sport of football, we try to educate camp participants about teamwork, decision-making, setting goals, trust, tolerance, and other qualities that are necessary for success in sports and in life,” said Bayless.  “I know that positive experiences can change lives, so we try to make this camp a positive, motivating experience.”

DAYTON CAMP DETAILS

June 2, 2007, UD’s Welcome Stadium, Dayton

Registration for all camp participants will be the day of camp for each session. A parent or guardian signature is required for camp participation.

• 3rd – 6th grades: registration from 8 a.m. – 9 a.m., camp from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

• 7th – 12th grades: registration from 1p.m. – 2 p.m., camp from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Lunch will be provided by Smokey Bones Barbeque & Grill.

2007 Boys Basketball Camp

June 11-14, The Pit

9-11 a.m. incoming 4th, 5th, & 6th graders

11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. incoming 7th & 8th graders

Jills Volleyball Camp 2007

The Oakwood Jills volleyball camp for girls entering grades 6-8 will be held June 11 through June 14 from 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at the Smith School gymnasium.

Registration forms are being sent home through Smith and Harman Schools for girls entering grades 6-7. Girls entering eighth grade can pick up registration forms in the H.S. Athletic office.

OHS Girls Summer Soccer Camp June 11-15

Any girl CURRENTLY in grades 1st-5th that would like to attend the Oakwood Girls Soccer Camp, please be sure to register with Coach Gaydosh by June 1. The camp will be held June 11-15 from 10 a.m.-12 noon down at Old River Fields behind NCR.

Flyers were passed out to all elementary students~ if you have misplaced it or need a new form, please email Coach Dawn Gaydosh at dawngaydosh@aol.com or feel free to call at 439-0753.  This camp promises to be a lot of fun!  We hope to see you all this summer!

Wooster Girls Soccer Camp

Residential soccer camp for girls held at the College of Wooster, Wooster, OH.  

Two Sessions: June 17-20 & July 8-11.

Oakwood Jills Basketball Camp

The annual Oakwood Jills Basketball Camp will be held June 18-21 during the following sessions:

Session I: Grades 3-5   9-11 a.m.

Session II: Grades 6-8, 12-2 p.m.

All camps will be held at Smith Elementary.  Registration forms may be picked up in the main office at Smith and Harman Elementary, as well as, the High School Athletic Office.
