The Dayton Area Sports History Association (DASH) has launched a new web site at www.daytonareasportshistory.com, featuring many of Dayton’s sports heroes, venues and stories.
The web site was launched on May 1. It contains historical and current information on major sports from baseball, football and golf to tennis , squash and others, including the Soap Box Derby, which had its start in Dayton. It also includes information about the many Olympians who have hailed from Dayton, as well as information about existing venues that have hosted greats like Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.
“We hope Daytonians will use this site both as a reference and as a place where all members of our community can share their stories,” said Dr. Alan Baker, a member of DASH who spearheaded the development of the site.
DASH’s goal is to provide as much information about Miami valley’s rich sports history as possible. It encourages community input and welcomes additional sports stories and pictures.
