Mitzvah Playland ribbon cutting at Chabad Center July 29

The public is invited to the debut of a unique outdoor playground and learning space. On Sunday, July 29 at 11:30 a.m. at the Weprin Center for Jewish Life & Learning, 2001 Far Hills Ave in Oakwood, Chabad of Greater Dayton will celebrate the opening of the new Mitzvah Playland: a uniquely imaginative outdoor space that combines a playground, a nature walk, and a Sukkah Pavilion. A picnic lunch will be served free of charge.

“We didn’t want to be content with a run-of –the-mill, unimaginative playground. By using insight from educators and child development experts in our design, we now have a unique and creative resource for the community,” Rabbi Nochum Mangel, director of Chabad of Greater Dayton said.

This carefully designed outdoor space features games and equipment that incorporate themes in Jewish life
into children’s play. It also boasts areas designed for nature observation and interaction, space for classes and community celebrations, water play, a sand and water play area, and traditional playground equipment as well.

Among the unique Jewish themes realized in the design are the Sukkah Pavilion with its tiled game-board flooring, Miriam’s Spring Water Sprinkler, Mt. Sinai Climbing Wall, Charity Box Bean Bag Toss, Shabbat Candle Ring Toss, Noah’s Ark Play Structure and the Living Torah Writing Board.
