3rd annual OSEF golf outing & fundraiser

The Oakwood Schools Education Foundation will host its third annual golf outing fundraiser Sept. 24 at the Dayton Country Club.  Kevin Payne is serving as this year’s honorary chair.  In its first two years the outing has raised over $39,000.

The Foundation annually provides significant support for quality initiatives beyond the scope of publicly funded education, including teacher and administrative grants, scholarships, and special wish list initiatives.

Teddy Bear Picnic in the Gardens

Girls and Boys join Miss Pat Wednesday, Aug. 8, for a magical morning at Smith Gardens.  Bring your favorite teddy bear for an hour of crafts, games, and a snack.  Register now at the Oakwood Community Center , 105 Patterson Rd.

Family Fun Day

Looking for something to do with the family?  Come down to Old River Sports Complex Saturday, Aug. 4, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.  The OCC will provide Oakwood families time to spend together playing cornhole, soccer, kickball, croquet, or just a relaxing afternoon together.  This is a free event for Oakwood families, hot dogs and lemonade will also be provided.  For more information call the OCC 298-0775.

Author at Wright Library on Aug. 6

Meet longtime Oakwood resident Bill Vernon at Wright Library on Monday, Aug 6 at 6:30 p.m.  Mr. Vernon’s new novel, Old Town, is a mystery with serious thematic concerns, especially urban sprawl’s threat to his native southern Ohio.  

Mr. Vernon will read from the book and there will be time for discussion and questions from the audience.  He will also have books for sale that can be autographed.  The program will be held in the library meeting room. No advance registration is necessary.  Cookies and lemonade will be served.
