After completing their regular season with a division-leading 20-3 record, the age 10-and-under Dayton Dodgers of the Division II Midwest Ohio Baseball League capped their fine season with back-to-back wins on their home field to earn the league tournament championship on July 16 and 17. To accomplish this, the Dodgers came from behind to defeat a scrappy Team Trevino by a score of 9 to 8. The following night, they vanquished the visiting Valley View Storm by a score of 9 to 2 to capture the crown. In the first game, skipper Todd Spees showcased the depth of his pitching staff, with Tom Henry Nuess, Evan Monaghan, and Jackson Diodoardo all sharing time on the mound. On Tuesday, Diodoardo merely had to mop up after a fine outing by regular hurler Nate Cravens.
The Dodgers received fantastic support this year from several sponsors, and would like to express their sincere appreciation to Keller Williams Results First Realty Inc. / Team Kooz, Wright State Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Bimedical.net Integrated Bilingual Medical Documents, Bowlero Lanes, Redden Remodeling, and Dr. Pamela S.
