‘Round Town’ received a letter from Lily Garner of Oakwood Avenue. Lily lives on the ‘old brick road’ section of Oakwood Avenue – with her parents Mark & Cindy Garner, her brother, and their new dog ‘Lacy’ Garner. Lily, seven years old, will be in the second grade at Harman School this fall.
On the front cover of her letter Lily had drawn a ‘collage’ of dog-related necessities: a large dog brush with dog hair in the bristles, a blue ribbon with a number one in the center, a black dog comb, a large red dog (obviously their ‘Lacy’), and a pink poodle, and a small grayish terrier. Inside was Lily’s letter: Dear Mrs…..I would like you to have another dog show, please. My brother won the blue ribbon one time and I would like to win one too. I can volunteer to help you plan it. I am a good Planner. Thank you, sincerely, Lily Garner. PS. My friend, Daisy, will help too.
Following our phone conversation Lily and ‘Round Town’ have ‘planned’ to have an Oakwood Ave.-area-neighborhood-dog show – next summer at 1221 Oakwood Ave. in the drive-way-circle. Invitations will be sent, a Judge will be carefully selected, blue-ribbons will be ‘earned’ by all exhibitors. Further plans to be announced!
