Tours of the Wright home Hawthorn Hill will be conducted on Wednesdays and Saturdays for those who have made advance, prepaid reservations. Tours will depart Carillon Historical Park via shuttle van promptly at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. This unique experience is sure to be popular and space is limited to no more than 10 visitors per tour.
The regular ticket price is $12 per person. A special combination ticket for admission to both Carillon Historical Park and Hawthorn Hill is available for $15 per person. Dayton History members receive a

Due to an exciting partnership between Dayton History and The Wright Family Foundation, Hawthorn Hill, the Oakwood mansion that Orville Wright called home for nearly 35 years, will be available for educational tours. Dayton History will conduct the tours while the Foundation will continue to own and manage the stately property.
C. G. Jung Association of Miami valley announces its fall event. On Sept. 29, Dianne Braden, Cleveland Jungian analyst, will be presenting a workshop entitled “Trapped, a Phenomenon of the Soul.” Participants will be invited to reflect on the powerful and universal experience of ‘trappedness’, learning to discern whether or not the experience is actually a container for profound personal growth. Examples of this paradox will be explored through reviewing ‘traps’ in art, literature, cartoons, and personal examples.
The workshop will take place at St. Paul’s Episcopal church. It will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 1:30 p.m. Hearty snacks, coffee and tea will be provided throughout the event. Three continuing education credits have been approved for social workers, family therapists, and counselors. Everyone is welcome.

On Thursday, Sept. 20, a little known, but fascinating aspect of NCR history will be presented by the Oakwood Historical Society as Board member and education chair Mackensie Wittmer spotlights “Building a Boy: The History of the National Cash Register Company Boys’ (and later Girls’) Gardens 1897-1934”. Mackensie will explore how Oakwood’s John H. Patterson promoted responsibility among neighborhood youth by providing them with an opportunity which became the largest and most complete garden program in the United States.
Social time begins at 6:30 p.m.with the presentation at 7 p.m. It is being held at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 155 E. Thruston Blvd. Parking and entrance is at the rear of the church. Light refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public. Don’t miss this intriguing slice of local history.
The Dayton Council on World Affairs is pleased to announce distinguished speakers program on U.S. – European Union Relations. Ms. Lebl is a fellow of the World Affairs Council of Connecticut and a member of the Foreign Policy Research Institute and Women in International Security.
A graduate of Swarthmore College (B.A. in History, 1972), Ms. Lebl received an M.A. in foreign affairs from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in 1979. She currently lives with her husband, Giora M. Lebl, in Woodbury, Connecticut.

Downtown Dayton’s The 88 Club will kick off the 2007-2008 theatre season with a special charity auction, Monday, Sept. 24, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Proceeds from the auction, hosted by Clear Channel’s Kim Faris from Lite 99.9, will benefit Victoria Theatre Association’s diversity programming.

The Oakwood Schools Education Foundation will host its third annual golf outing fundraiser Sept. 24 at the Dayton Country Club. Kevin Payne is serving as this year’s honorary chair.
The Foundation provides significant support for quality initiatives beyond the scope of publicly funded education, including teacher and administrative grants, scholarships, and special wish list initiatives.

Col. Eileen Collins, the first woman to pilot and command an American spacecraft, will launch the forty-fifth season of the Montgomery Woman’s Club Town Hall Lecture Series in September. Colonel Collins will share leadership lessons and experiences gained while flying missions from 1995 through her final mission in July 2005 as commander of STS-114 Discovery.
The Wednesday, Sept. 26 and Thursday, Sept. 27 11 a.m. lectures are in the Kings Island Theater. The Wednesday evening lecture is at 8 p.m. at the Sycamore Junior High School. Tickets are available at $ 100 for the five lecture series. For ticket information call 513-684-1632.

The Dawn Patrol Rendezvous World War I Fly-In takes place every other year at the National Museum of the United States Air Force. The fly-in, which takes place Sept. 21 and 22 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., will feature full
scale and 7/8 scale war birds such as the Nieuport, SE.5 and Fokker Dr.I triplane. Pilots will perform precision flying in the skies above the museum and compete in a flour-bombing competition. (U.S. Air Force photo).
For the past twenty years BRAVO! Fashion Show has been an eagerly awaited fall fashion event to the Dayton area. BRAVO! happens again this year on Friday, Sept. 28, at the Dayton Marriott.
The one-day event features two shows, both produced by ELAN. The traditional Champagne Brunch is at 11: 30 a.m., followed by fabulous fashions on the runway at 12:30 p.m. A new addition to the Brunch is an outside tent-sale during the social hour starting at 10:30 a.m. An enticing raffle and door prizes complete this fun daytime event.
The evening affair begins at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails and heavy hors-d’oeuvres served at food stations. Seating for the evening show is in chairs along the runway with a close-up view of fast, New York—paced fashions. A special feature of the evening event is a live auction, which offers exciting opportunities to bid for unique items. New York Designer Michael Dicker will attend both shows and present his new collection of nubby tweeds, captivating trims and slim skirts. At both shows Community Models, familiar to many in the audience, will grace the runway.

The annual Homecoming Hot Dog Supper will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 26 annual family event will be held at the OCC from 5:30-7 p.m. before the parade and bonfire. Knitting is a joyful and creative activity that is highly addictive. This class will cover the basics of continental knitting; matching yarns & needles, gauge, casting, the knit stitch, increasing, decreasing, the purl stitch, and binding off. While you learn you will be creating an elegant eyelash scarf, suitable for wearing to the opera. This instructor has almost 20 years experience teaching finance (really) and several years of experience teaching knitting.

Young ladies, ages 2 to 6, and their moms are cordially invited to the 4th Annual Afternoon Tea party at Wright Library on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 2 to 3 p.m.
This year, Dorie Phillips, a music educator, will entertain with songs and games. Guests should dress in their best party dresses and bring their favorite doll. Moms are encouraged to dress up, too! Refreshments will be served.
