Blast From The Past’ read the invitation. ‘Celebrating 40 Years’ 1967 – 2007 – A Heritage Societies Event – Wright State University.’ Presented by Wright State Libraries.
The entire Library building was used as a back-drop for the most inventive party plan. From five thirty ‘til seven guests were received on the fourth floor for a cocktail-hors d’ouevre reception and introduction of many of the outstanding ‘givers’ to the WSU foundation. Marcia Muller, President of the WSU Foundation & Univ. V.P. of the Univ. was MC. Marcia introduced members of the Kim Goldenberg Society – Kim was the fifth president and served from 1998 through 2006. Members have given $2,500,000 and above to the University. Oscar Booneshoft, Matthew & Nancy Diggs, Nelson Faerber, Raj & Indu Soin and Robert & Elaine Stein – who were there to receive recognition and thanks. Kim & Shelly Goldenberg were asked to stand.
The Robert Kegerreis Society honored givers of $1,000,000. Some of the listees were Elizabeth Berry Gray, Viginia Kettering, Clayton Mathile, & Ervin & Zoe Dell Nutter. Kay & Bob Kegerreis were there and received ‘kudos’.
The Frederick White Society is named for the acting president from 1972 – 1973. John, Sr. & Marilyn Berry, Robert Oelman, Abner & Thelma Fordham, David Rike, Mitch Singer…were donors of $500,000 to the University.
The Brage Golding Society is named for the first president – from 1967 – 1972. Outstanding donors were introduced. Next the members of the Robert Oelman Society were recognized. Bob Oelman was the first chair. of the WSU Board of Trustees. The Wright Brothers Society is named for whom the university is named University President, David Hopkins was introduced, as was Stephen Foster, Chair of the WSU Libraries and his assistant, Karin Nevius.
While enjoying the fourth-floor buffet everyone looked over the railing into the atrium and marveled once again at the replica of the Wright Brothers first airplane hanging from the fifth-floor ceiling. Under the plane were tables, more elaborate buffets, and a busy dance floor.
Kay Kegerreis, Joyce Young, Elaine Stein, and Shelly Goldenberg were around a table having a great chat. Kim Goldenberg said they were enjoying their home in Bellbrook…one topic led to another and ‘Round Town’ added: “Let me tell you about a super sign I just discovered on Brown Street…so “Miami Valley Hospital….. Woodland Cemetery’ …followed. When Kim stopped laughing he said: “I’ll bet Tom Breitenbach (President of MVH) would laugh too.”
