Wouldn’t it be fun to design your own floral arrangements for your home? Nov. 8 is the date to come to Parkview Church of the Nazarene located at 4701 Far Hills Avenue, Kettering. In that evening you can watch, learn and ask how to arrange live floral arrangements. The florist that will be sharing their expertise with those in attendance will be The Flower Shoppe located at 1132 Brown Street, Furst Florist at 1306 Troy Street and The Oakwood Florist, 2313 Far Hills Avenue. The door will open at 6:15 p.m. with the program starting at 7 p.m.
Each florist will produce six beautiful and unique floral pieces and all of the eighteen arrangements will serve as door prizes. There will also be a raffle and silent auction for more wonderful gifts.
Cathy Hackett of Vandalia, chairperson of the event, is excited to have this type of an event in the Dayton area. Libby Kirsch of Kettering, WDTN news department, will serve as mistress of ceremonies while Adele Good, a member and past president of the Garden Club of Dayton, will be the floral commentator. Other members of the Floral Fantasy Committee are Linda Miller, Lois Ross, Marty Ebeling, of Oakwood, Carolyn Young, Katie Gammell, Alice Stone, Maggie Jones and Erin Chase, of Centerville, Rae Ann Herman of Miamisburg, Carol Dickerson of Kettering, and Maria DiLoreto of Vandalia.
Funds raised through the Floral Fantasy will be used to aid deserving University of Dayton women in financial need. Tickets are available by calling Carolyn Young at 433-8447. Reserve now for this fun and exciting evening.

Check out Wright Memorial Public Library's newly spruced up website at www.WrightLibrary.org !
Wright Memorial Public Library is lowering fines for videos and DVD’s. To help patrons clear up old fines, the library will offer “Food for Fines” during the month of November.
Starting Nov. 1, fines for all overdue items will be 10 cents per day except “Fast Read” books, which will remain $1 per day. Patrons who owe more than $5 may not check out more items until the account is paid in full.
To help patrons clear up old fines, during the month of November non-perishable food items will be accepted as payment for overdue fines – both current and old fines. There is no “exchange rate” on the food items. One food item will excuse all of a patron’s fines for that transaction. Charges for lost or damaged materials are not excused – just overdue fines on items that have been returned. If a patron wants to donate additional non-perishable food during November, the library will accept it.
If anyone doesn’t want to bother with food, the library will still accept cash to pay for fines. The food will be donated to The FoodBank, 427 Washington Street, Dayton.
Anyone with questions about the new fine structure or their library account can call Wright Library at 294-7171.
