The Oakwood Jills dropped a tough game Saturday against rival Bellbrook 65-53. After falling behind 15 points at the half, the Jills came out in the third quarter and outscored their rivals 23-11 to cut the deficit to 3 (45-42) going into the decisive fourth quarter. It was in the fourth quarter that Bellbrook responded with a run of their own and eventually pulled away in the final minutes of the game. Cathryn Hardy led the Jills with 18 points and 14 rebounds to go along with five blocks.
Brittany Moore contributed 15 points including several key baskets during the third quarter. Sophomore Alex Miller threw in 11 points to go along with four rebounds and an assist. The loss drops the Jills to 8-10 with games remaining against Franklin and Waynesville at home.
The Jills have been seeded sixth in the sectional tournament and will play fifth seeded Ross on Feb. 8 at 7: 30 p.m.
