OBPA hosting Tailgate Dinner
On Friday, Aug. 22 from 5:30 to 7 p.m., the Oakwood Lumberjacks take the field in the season opening game against the Versailles Tigers. Spectators can arrive early to enjoy the Season Opening Tailgate Dinner.
Dinner features a pulled pork sandwich, chips and a beverage. Service starts at 5:30 on Schantz Avenue outside the stadium. The cost is $6, and the proceeds benefit the Oakwood High School Band. During the game, the Oakwood Band Parents Association is pleased to welcome both teams’ fans to the concession stands at the north and south ends of the stadium.
Parent/athlete meeting Aug. 25
Oakwood Junior High School will hold its fall sports parent/athlete meeting on Monday, August 25 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Junior high school coaches will be on hand to answer questions about the upcoming season.

FOOTBALL 101 - Tuesdays, September 9th and TENNIS LESSONS – (ages 17+) Mondays/Wednesdays, August 18th – August 27th. Beginners/Adv. Beginner from 6:00 – 7:15 P.M. ~ Intermediate/Advanced from 7: 15 – 8:30 P.M. 16th from 7:00 – 8:30 P.M. (open to all ages) Learn all you can about FOOTBALL rules: advanced and obscure.
TENNIS TOURNAMENT - September 2nd – 13th (ages: 16 or older) Don’t miss the 4th annual City of Oakwood Tennis Tournament! There are various Divisions for both Men and Women as well as 3 Mixed divisions. Special Registration forms are available at the OCC Business office. Register today and put your tennis skills to work!
LITTLE KICKERS SOCCER - Saturdays, September 6 — October 25
(Ages 5, 6, & K) Designed especially for children in between pre-school indoor soccer and youth fall soccer. Emphasis is on education, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Teams will be co-ed 7-on-7 on a shortened field. Coaches will be referees. Space is limited and volunteer coaches are needed. Participants must be at least 5 by the first day of the program to be enrolled, no exceptions. Practices and games will be held 10a.m. on Saturday mornings, September 8-October 27 at the Old River Sports Complex.
